Niv-Mizzet

Niv-Mizzet is a fifteen-thousand-year-old, vain, temperamental, and super-intelligent dragon who serves as the founder and guild master of the Izzet League. Following the catastrophic events of the War of the Spark, he was reborn as the Living Guild pact, a literal avatar of the plane of Ravnica, a dragon, and a god. He is the ultimate authority on the plane, serving as the source of balance and law where the previous Living Guild pact was often absent.

He is the direct controller and mastermind behind the Ravnica Expedition Corp (REC), a joint venture between all the guilds intended to explore the multiverse and recruit allies. While he rarely concerns himself with the mundane day-to-day operations of the guild or the Corp, preferring to craft long-range plans and let underlings handle the implementation. Through an artifact of his own creation, the Firemind it is possible to tap directly into Niv-Mizzet's incredible mind though this is not advised.

Niv-Mizzet values results over success, accepting and even anticipating that research and exploration will end in gloriously unpredictable ways. His current focus through the REC is the perfection of Planar Gate technology and the study of artifacts and cultures from other worlds. He can be a fickle and demanding patron; those who serve him directly, like his quartermaster Isham or the Corp leader Lionel, have sworn their absolute allegiance to his new, divine form.
